I had high hopes for her. It's too late. She's done to me. And nothing will change it. It's more than one issue. It exposes a deep character flaw.

Terrible advice. Just terrible.

You can even forget principles here; just look at public opinion. Most people have no problem with someone choosing their gender, but women's sports were specifically created to block the born-in advantages of biological men. A guy can identify as a girl and even make alterations, but those advantages are wholly unaffected. If that guy-turned-girl then chooses to participate in girl's sports, it obliterates the entire reason for women's sports--which is blocking the bio-male advantage.

More importantly for Noem, she was running neck-and-neck with DeSantis for 2024, but now he'll bolt out ahead of her. What a terrible shame. A thousand Amazon jobs won't fix that, and they were hardly necessary for a state with the nation's lowest unemployment.

Terrible, terrible advice.

I have trouble with "most people" I don't believe that for a second.....I think most people think that someone picking their gender depending on how they feel today is nonsense at best, and are keeping quiet so that they aren't cancelled by the PC Police

I didn't say it was a wise decision. I only say they can do whatever they want to themselves. Heck, cut off whatever you want.

We just moved to SD because of Noem. And now we’re already second guessing our decision. Noem appears to be just another corruptible Romney RINO in the making. What a damn shame.

If you moved to escape leftist/liberal/Democrat/establishment Republican tyranny, welcome to South Dakota. And know that Noem's conservative tendencies are a reflection of the people of South Dakota. Any of her shortcomings are tactical failures. But strategically, Noem understands that the circumstances that lead to human flourishing are conservative. The record of the leftist/liberal/Democrat/establishment Republican cabal could not be worse. The common sense of the average South Dakotan could not be better. Proximity to the harsh conditions of the plains ensures that the South Dakotan understanding of reality is unclouded by secular religion, utopian fantasy, or mindless hatred. You will be glad to be here when you compare where you are to where you were.

Actually, the line is "do not put your trust in kings and princes because, three of a kind takes 'em every time."

Kristi Noem is South Dakota's Beautiful Liar. She put in Contact tracing early during the pandemic, and people were forced into quarantine because of it. She STILL has a Stay-At-Home order for Sioux Falls' elderly that she lied about and said she never did (EO #2020-13). She told doctors they could NOT use HCQ even after being given 190,000 doses to prove it worked (yeah-I called that ruse early). And what part of her Ex Order, do people not understand? #2020-12, sections 11-13 declares that businesses SHALL SUSPEND normal operation and follow the CDC guidelines. Just like every other Governor did. Sioux Falls was ruined because of her shut down...every larger town was. The town with populations of less than 1000 were fine...but so were California's tiny towns. She is a protégé of Tom Daschle and has a conservative rating from Heritage Action of 57%...worse than some Democrats. Plus when in congress she voted 100% with the Globalist United Nations.

I am the parent of a transgender daughter. I don't claim to understand it, but this I do understand; my daughter has no desire to compete against girls in sports, nor does she have a desire to make women unsafe in the women's rest room. That being said, Noem has crapped in her own nest on this one. You either sign it, let it become law without your signature, or veto it. To gut it and allow the very thing it was designed to stop to occur is not leadership. Amazon, be damned. The RINO Chamber of Commerce can suck it. As far as your claims, Lora, I'll take them with a grain of salt knowing the source. Noem may have made a mistake in my opinion on this one, but she is in a position that you will never be. I wonder how much that flavors your commentary. To call her a Tom Daschle protege is ridiculous. Either that or you don't appreciate what Daschle stood for. Perhaps the reason she is where she is and you aren't is your inability to understand the complexity that is politics in this state. Whatever the case, Noem has an uphill grade to climb to get herself out of this one. My bet is she will.

Appreciate Tom Daschle? the self-acclaimed "architect of ObamaCare" according to his own book? No, I do NOT appreciate Tom Daschle. She is in her position because she avoids debate and only sticks to talking points that are carefully crafted to project an image. She does not care that SD is on the brink of full bore Socialism...starting with the healthcare takeover. Look at all of our boards...instead of being "Professional Boards", they are now "State Boards" and state controlled. Which means any professional must do as the STATE demands. Look at our "Development" ...yeah...the one where all the murders...ah...suicides occur...Anytime you have Public Private Partnerships for even the smallest of business or non-profit... and having the government compete with the little guy on the street....you are marching toward Corporatism (Mussolini's word for it - we called it Fascism). Open your eyes Randy...we are in trouble and it starts with ignoring the early warning signs.

Lora, I can appreciate your zeal while also understanding the position of the governor. Politics is the art of the possible. Was that not your calculation when you teamed with Mike Myers? If you have evidence of Daschle and Noem please provide it. Noem may have grown beyond her congressional voting record. Whatever Noem's defects are she may be as good as we can do.

I teamed with Mike because I saw the most ominous malady on SD horizon was the implementation of ObamaCare. When Mike agreed I could fight the Socialist Healthcare system as Lt Gov.... I took him up on it. Too bad I got so much cancelling and pushback as SD is now the 3rd most ObamaCare compliant (socialist) healthcare system in the nation.

I read your response as confirming my assumption that your purpose was to do what you could given the constraints of elector politics to fight the problem we face. Was I wrong? If not, are you sure Governor Noem has not made the same calculation that you did?

It would seem to me that Noem took advantage of Tom Daschle's best asset and put it to use in her political pursuits. Tom Daschle was a master at making people of both parties feel important in a face to face meeting (i.e. campaigning). How else do you suppose he got Republicans to support him for all those years? Of course, it didn't hurt placing a Republican on the FSA board. That was a fairly astute political move for Daschle. Sometimes you have to take the best of the opposition and use it to put yourself in a position to defeat them. Maybe that is why your political endeavors haven't been as successful as Noem's or Daschle's Lora. A wise person would learn from this, not distort it against those who have gained success implementing it.

It's not just Noam, it's folks like Ben Shapiro and the rest of the GOP. Conservatives seriously need to stop worshiping corporations and capitalism. You can't complain about "crazy libs" or "socialism" while bankrolling the corporations and institutions that platform and promote "crazy liberalism" and "socialism". You cannot serve two masters.

At the bare minimum, they should support small business and middle class families, nothing else. No more tax cuts or deals for big businesses like Amazon.

Then again, it's probably intentional by design. They're not compelled to solve any social issue since people easily hand in money before they deliver receipts. Stop rewarding inflammatory rhetoric (marketing) and reward those who successfully act on it. Not behind appealing labels where the opposite actions are occurred.
